About Shyam
Shyam's journey from a school pupil to the founder of 3DL in Norway shows how curiosity and innovation can shape education. His early passion for hands-on learning led him to the Madras Snake Park and Crocodile Bank, a renowned reptile research center near Chennai. “I thought school was boring and far too theoretical. Although I was an average student, I performed well outside the classroom. If the education had been more engaging, I could have contributed even more to society. This inspired me to establish 3DL,” says Shyam. At 17, he participated in a research project on the reproductive biology of reptiles and temperature-dependent sex determination, supported by the Smithsonian and a herpetologist from the University of North Dakota.
